I would not call Slovakia Hitler's creation. But Slovaks is indeed one artificialy created eastern european ethnicities in late 19 - 20 century. Just like ukrainians, latvians, belarussians and so on.

Latvians? How? Latvians are of Latgalian descent. Or are Latgalians also an artificial thing? The name of Latvia and Lithuania sound very similar in some languages (e.g. Litva and Lotva in Polish) so maybe Latgalians and Lithuanians were the same people, but I haven't heard anyone make this claim. When and how did the split start if Latvians are a recently created ethnicity?

Slovaks = confused Czechs, there's no reason why that place should exist.

I hear Czechs write on their resumes that they speak Slovak since Slovak is just a copy of the Czech language.

Slovakia is indeed an artificial creation, born from foreign ideology rather than real nationhood.

Slovaks are the continuity of Moravians whereas Czechs are the continuity of Bohemians (the Moravia region of CR is just a regional designation not an ethnic/tribal one).

The first known mention of the Moravians was in the Annales Regni Francorum in 822 AD. The tribe was located by the Bavarian Geographer (as Marharii) between the tribe of the Bohemians and the tribe of the Bulgarians. In the 9th century Moravians gain control over neighbouring Nitra and founded the realm of Great Moravia, ruled by the Mojmír dynasty until the 10th century. After the breakup of the Moravian realm the Moravian tribe was divided between the Duchy of Bohemia and Principality of Hungary. The western Moravians were assimilated by the Czechs and presently identify as Czechs (see Moravians (ethnic group)). The modern nation of the Slovaks was formed out of the eastern part of the Moravian tribe within the Kingdom of Hungary.[3]

Historically, the Slovaks were never united or had a "Slovak identity". They were just some communities scattered around the mountains, speaking many different dialects.


Yes, and actually it was the Czechs and Austrians that made a lot of propaganda and fed it to the people what is today Slovakia.

They had the Moravian identity before, did they not?
