If I'm not mistaken, the "Habsburg jaw" was introduced when Ernest the Iron married a Polish-Lithuanian princess of the Piast dinasty, rather than interbreeding.

I know you admire them , thus I don't pretend to offend, but the austrohungarian empire was the biggest shit in modern european history imo. Religious fanatics and extremely conservative. Metternich was the most dangerous and reactionary european politician in the 18th Century. At least the austrian branch didn't degenerate into a retarded race as happened with the spanish one. But that's old history, their empire will never come back.

How come they were religious fanatics? Under the banner of Austro-Hungarian empire led by Habsburgs, there were Orthodox Christians, Muslims, Protestants, Calvinists, Lutherans..
Despite core of A-H was traditional Roman Catholicism, all religions were part of the state.

Conservative ? A-H was the last stand of traditional European monarchy. As Francis Joseph himself told to American president " I am the last monarch of traditional Europe " .
