Maybe you're an exception, but most Turks would just pollute the streets and commit crime if they came to the UK.

And I'm aware of both of those, though none apply to my ancestors in particular, but I'm still aware, however it was over 500 years ago that the Ottomans let in Jews escaping Spain - why does that mean I should have some pro-Turkey bias? I feel more British than Jewish, so why would I go against what I see as my better judgement? Should I hate all Germans and Russians with a passion because of their historical persecution of Jews?

It actually hasn't. But when we get rid of the current totalitarian government I think the chances of joining will greatly increase. Even if not I believe Turkey should keep facing towards the West and at least maintain its official candidate status which allows Turkish students to participate in Erasmus exchange programme and such. Erasmus is one of the biggest projects in Europe, imo.

There's already a large amount of Turkish community in the UK, about 500k, I think. They are well-integrated and do not cause any trouble, such that they don't bat an eye so you have little information about them. You should be more concerned about these other immigrants who happent to be your citizens that always involve in crime and terror acts around there and establish Sharia courts, you don't see that from Turkish individuals. Don't talk out of stupid bias.
