India appears to have banned porn, ordering internet companies to turn off access to adult websites, dating pages and pornographic blogs.

Internet users trying to access the pages over the weekend have found that they are unavailable, apparently following a request from the Indian government.

The bans also include adult dating sites and porn blogs, according to reports from people in India. A list of the banned sites includes Adult Friend Finder — a hugely-popular site to let people find sexual partners — and Fleshbot, a porn blog that writes about news as well as showing highly-explicit photos.

The ban includes 857 sites, according to local reports that cited telecoms companies. The full list has been posted online by the Centre for Internet & Society, in a document that many have pointed out is a hugely comprehensive list of many of the most popular porn sites.

WTF.. That's blasphemy! How could they do that to those poor grown and teenaged Indian men (and some women). How are the citizens of India going to survive without porn? If I was an Indian man I would pack my bags and go to another country. I wouldn't care if I had to become an illegal immigrant. I would be an illegal immigrant but at least I would still have porn. Even guys who have wives or girlfriends,watch porn. I'm sure their significant others aren't around them 24/7. Even if they were it doesn't mean their chicks are down to get down every time the Indian guys get an urge.

At least some of those guys still have dvds and magazines they bought before the ban. If the U.S. banned Internet porn and sale of porn dvds and magazines today,I would be totally fucked because I don't own those kind of dvds and magazines. I would have to live in agony until I borrowed or got a dvd or magazine from someone else. I would demand a dvd though because I refuse to go back to the stone ages and start looking at magazines.

Someone should ban India from the rest of the world by building a tall ass wall around the country and putting a big concrete dome on top so they couldn't escape by using an airplane. That'll teach them. Maybe that would make them reconsider their decision. I don't why they banned dating websites. What does that have to do with porn?

Have you heard about a thing called as VPN or proxy servers?

The aim of the ban is to ensure no easy access to porn sites because it's filled with actual rape videos and child pornography.

Dating websites don't work in India as most Indians marry the old fashioned way ie arranged marriage,these websites are filled with call girls and not prospective brides.

Rape has very little to do with porn.Most rapists commit the crime to compensate for their underlying feelings of inadequacy and feeds their issues of mastery, control, dominance, strength, intimidation, authority and capability.

According to one research,28.9% of porn-users associated their hardcore porn use with the crimes, the rest disagreed it had anything to do with it. Only 12.5% admitted to having rape fantasies prior to the offence and more than 93% of the rapists used to have consensual sex with a partner.
