Interesting. Actually the state of São Paulo is at the southern border of what I consider to be Central Brazil, and just under it are the three Southern brazilian states. Anyway, I must add: there's no geopolitical term "Central Brazil", it's just a term to name the area where the white population is mostly of the old portuguese stock, dating from the time Brazil was Portugal's colony. But the state of São Paulo is quite unique in this area, for many (not to say most) people there can trace their ancestry back to an italian, and there is also a good amount of german descendants living there. Polish descendants are common in the state of Paraná, which is adjacent to São Paulo and the northernmost of the three states comprised by Southern Brazil.
