    Default Ships of the line!

I am mildly obsessed with the vessels of the great age of sail. There is just something so enchanting about these wooden titans gliding through the water. Last I was in the UK, one of my stops was Portsmouth to see the H.M.S Victory, and it did not disappoint.

    The Victory

Me manning a 12 pounder on the quarterdeck

Me being stupid in the naval museum

I would love to visit some of the other ships of Europe built in the style of the age of sail

    Amerigo Vespucci - Italy

    Santisima Trinidad - Spain

    U.S.S Constitution - United States

Anyone else share my love of all this naval?

https://www.scribd.com/doc/149320375...ps-de-Napoleon ← In this PDF transcript of the 27th tome titled Au temps de Napoléon, written by Pierre Miquel and illustrated by Jacques Poirier, of the collection La vie privée des hommes, a series of French historical books intended for children/teenagers published by Hachette during the 1980s, you can see two interesting drawings featuring naval battles set during the Age of Sail.

On page 23-24, you can see a drawing of the Boarding of San Nicolas by the vessel of commodore [Horatio] Nelson. (Battle of Cape Saint-Vincent, 1797)

On page 31-32, you can see a drawing of an English brig attacked by a French privateer; to hinder the progress of enemy boarders, a net was deployed around the deck.

Naval battles set during the Age of Sail featuring grappling & boarding action scenes also fascinated me during a while... However, Hollywood does not share our interest: beyond the 2003 Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World featuring Russell Crowe and Pirates of the Caribbean film series (which quickly devolved into fantasy movies), there aren't many movies set during the Age of Sail...
