Default Central Am Spanish/Spain Spanish comparable to Am English/England English?

Is Central American Spanish (say Mexican Spanish) versus Spanish from Spain comparable to American English versus English from England?
Is one pair less linguistically similar than the other? Or is it simply and equally the accent and some slang that separates both pairs?
Please explain, as I do not know.

because the main differences is how they pronounce certain words and the accent

well Mexico is not located in central america but north america
also the Spanish such as slang and accent are different depending on the region, and even within a single region, there are different accents and slang being used

the Spanish in Mexico is different from that found in Spain, I was reading a while ago that Mexico used a lot more medieval Spanish words than Spaniards themselves
although I am not sure if that came to us by the Spanish themselves or by the Sephardi Jews since they were known for using a lot of medieval Spanish words, I think their Ladino language is an example of that
i read that Mexico uses the most medieval Spanish words in Latin America, maybe it came from the Sephardi Jews since Mexico was home of the biggest Sephardi Jew population in the Americas

i have been to Spain and although we speak the same language, many words they use are not used in Mexico or have a very different meaning

i would say Mexican Spanish is as different as American English is to British English

I think there are more difference than between english and american, because of the different slang and some of the vocabulary.

    Depends on the linguistic level.

Lexical-semantic level: American English is a bit closer to its British equivalent than Mexican Spanish is to Peninsular Spanish. This level is indeed the biggest difference-maker in the Spanish language, affecting dialects and sociolects alike worldwide. Nevertheless, this divergence is not as big if the Mexican speaker is an educated individual who is acquainted with the formal, highbrow, variation of his language; i.e., the one found in poetry and academic essays.

Phonic level: Mexican Spanish presents more differences in this regard respect to Castilian Spanish than the British/American split does. For instance, Mexicans –and nearly all Latin Americans for that matter– do not pronounce the [θ], [χ] or [ʎ] sounds found in Peninsular Spanish, which they replace for different ones. The equivalent would be something like Americans pronouncing both thick and sick as the latter.

Orthographic level: Mexican variation is closer to Castilian Spanish than the American one is to British English. Despite the aforementioned sound-switching phenomenon, the standard orthography is respected in all cases. Stuff like realise and realize being both orthographically valid never happens in Spanish and such a deviation would be showcased as an error regardless of the origin and cultural level of the offender.
