    Cheers!

Has anyone ever seen anything more detailed for northern Eurasia? To 'fill in the gaps' of this one, so to speak.

A question for the genetics experts on the forum. Why is there 5% of E3b in Iceland? Is this a north American/Siberian haplotype? If so, how did it get there? I've noticed that it is also present in smaller quantities in Norway.

E3b (now called E1b1b) is most commonly found on the Mediterranean coast. I'm not sure which variant is found in Scandinavia, but the E3b1a2 subclade is associated with the Roman troops in Britain, and E1b1b1c is common in both Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews. I suppose the Phonecians may be partially responsible too.

Thanks, but I've got those! I'm interested in seeing Asia and the Middle East on the same scale though, but I suppose money, opportunity and sheer logistics are against the possibility!

Looks like you're right. I should've double checked before I posted.

    From Oppenheimer (pp. 235-236):

It may have arisen first in Anatolia, where it is found at low rates, but E-M78-a features most strongly in the Balkans at rates of 20%-30%, showing a population expansion around 7,800 years ago during the Neolithic of that region...Given the distribution of E3b, this stretches metallurgy link from Wales back to the Balkans
So, I wonder if the bulk of it is Neolithic then. Oppenheimer doesn't get into specific subclades, and I can't seem to find any info on which ones are dominant up there.

Haven't Sykes and Oppenheimer's theories on Britain been superceded and therefore been disproved?
