It's not a matter of being intelligent as much as it is the ability to make rational decisions on the fly- an ability that also requires some degree of intelligence.

You´re totally right about it. Amateurs have a life appart from sport
But i was refering to profesional ones since the sensitive dudes that they were posted in that thread aren´t amateurs

However I have to add they do not necessarily have to be dumb. Saying that they are unlikely to get a Nobel prize is a bit irrelevant, since they are devoted to their sports and not a field of science. But it is possible that the stereotype is correct that most of the professional sportsmen are only wealthy because they are good at a certain sport, but when someone want to engage in to a more deeper discussion with them about for example politics and economic policies they give a blank stare.

And my point is more related to whether or not they are considered high society. At best professional athletes are new money.

Well, in Western Turkey, in the cities and upper class, people descending from the original Western Anatolian and coastal population, more European-like types, even lighter ones, are pretty common. Of course still a minority, but I myself saw some already, of which some were actually more Nordoid than she is...

Such Western Turkish variants look often, both by phenotype and culture, somewhat out of place in other areas of Turkey and the lower class environments of Anatolians in general.
