    "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and the States wherein they reside."

    Some argue that "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" means, the child is subject to the jurisdiction of their parents' nation, and that being born here is not enough to give them citizenship; knowing that the 14th Amendment was meant to give African American freed slaves citizenship, some suggest it says nothing about immigrants.

    No, it means that a child born in the United States is automatically a citizen of the United States, even if parents are not.

    i think mainstream interprets it that people born in the usa are citizens, i think thats how things work over there. america is very relaxed with citizenship you can have double citizenship and your parents can be tourists on a 2 months visit and if you are born there you are american citizen.

    I support birthright citizenship but I do not think the Constitution promises it.

    i dont think this article makes sense what does "complete political allegiance" mean, that you didnt broke any laws maybe? then it would be only for illegal aliens not for tourists i heard that some serbian stars go to usa to give birth to their children so they will have double citizenship

    It means undocumented immigrants are still in part loyal to their homeland and their political allegiance is not entirely with the US. Anyway I personally support birthright citizenship! I just do not think the 14th Amendment actually guarantees it.

    there are colonial americans who are not loyal to the usa too, thats hard to determine who is really loyal you are also loyal to siciliy and many americans say shit about the usa and prefer their countries of origin even if they are since generations in usa, to me this makes no sense to tell like that
