An Egyptian billionaire has offered to buy an island off Italy or Greece in order to rehouse hundreds of thousands of refugees fleeing Syria and other conflicts.

What an idiot ! Hahhaha.
First of all, there is no island for sale,that could hold immigrants. Private islands that are for sale, are too small to host them, and they are mainly useless.

There is a reason than many of them are uninhabited. They are too far from other islands , and in order to make them habitable, there should to make the power connection and stuff , and this is impossible.

So, if he can built enough houses, built his own power plant there, and use his own ship for their moves out of the island,it would be okay.
AFTER of course, those immigrants are granted permision to stay to Greece
