Since then the leaders of the West have bent over backwards to appease Muslims wherever possible. To the liberals amongst us, it's a case of trying to make peace. But Muslims see it very differently - to them, it's proof that the West is weak, and that terrorism works. They will take whatever they can, and we will give it to them. Reminds me of the Danegeld.

There's this side of the coin. But then there's the other side. Since then, Islam has very much in the mind of many westerners been associated with terrorism. The stereotype of the big bad Muslim killer. It has generated an amount of anti-Islam-ism.
