Theres a big confusing discussion surrounding what Melungeons are. Some say they're a mix of black, white, and Indian, but it gets more complicated than that. There are various related tri-racial groups. My ancestors came over as slaves in 1526. That is the origin of these groups, but they have also found Jewish genes in Melungeon blood. Its a very confusing ethnic group and new info comes out like every year regarding their origins. A lot of Southerners have Melungeon blood, apparently. I've been told I look more Jewish than anything, which is unsurprising seeing as Cajuns and Melungeons both have Jewish genes.
