Why do people still think that Chile doesn't have a mestizo majority?

Whenever a representative picture of Chileans is shown and the mestizo features of the crowd are obvious, some people rush to claim that the mestizos in the photo are soldiers, soccer players, or some other group that's mostly drawn from the lower classes and thus more Amerindian than the national average.

I keep track of science olympiads like the IMO and IOI and whenever I look at the team Chile sends, I'm astounded by the obviously mestizo features most of their students have. Bear in mind that the teams are drawn from the brightest students in the country, kids who are future mathematicians, scientists, engineers, etc. If Chile were anywhere near as White as claimed, then why do I keep seeing faces that look like this?

I'm cherry-picking, you say? Then how come every recent DNA study of Chile's genetic heritage is consonant with the faces seen above? At what point does it become obvious that people exaggerating the "Whiteness" of Chile are the ones cherry-picking?

It's mostly foreigners with an obsession with Latin America who claim stuff like this. They see Chile has one of the most developed Latin American countries, so the fact that mestizos are a big majority just can't compute inside their minds, so what they do instead is attempting to justify Chile's relative success by elevating white numbers. In reality Chile is a fully thorough mestizo country, with whatever that implies. Those students look very average Chilean, but the full extent of variation is bigger. It's not particularly hard to find either more Indigenous or more European people than those depicted.

Chile is not very different from countries like Mexico or Paraguay. It's certainly not another Uruguay or Argentina, and certainly not Peru/Bolivia/Central America either.

I never claimed full amerindian lineage(you can check all of my post) while Nahuatl is still alive very few people speak it natively, My Direct family is heavily indo-mestizo(brothers, cousins) and there are plenty of full blooded or close to it amerindians in Nicaragua... and whats wrong with beeing a chilean Mestizo? you are a self hater if you believe its bad
