Specialization is idiotic. It has no place occurring before university, unless we're talking about apprenticeship and so on. Everyone should have most of their hours in French, History, Philosophy and Mathematics until graduation, regardless of preferences. Conversely there's no reason to make Latin an option, or to eschew introducing everyone to Theater, Chemistry, Physics and so on. That is all.
