Crimean Tatar Wedding
As early as the 13th century, Batu Khan founder of the Horde already started to favour Turkic tribes against Slavic tribes in the Pontic-Caspian steppes.
Later Berke favoured Turks even more. Alaeddin, Seljuk Sultan of Rum (Konya) even married his daughter to Berke after Berke converted Islam. Berke favoured the settlement of Oğuz speaking Anatolian Turks (Turkmens) to the southern coast of Ukraine. The interaction between Kypchaks and Oghuzes created modern Crimean Tatar language.
Many customs of Anatolian Turks have been adopted by Kypchaks.
Red ribbon around belly of the bride, dropping water behind the travellers are all Turkish customs transferred to Tatars. Song is in Tatar and almost completely intelligible in our language.
