Our status with the US is also slightly more nuanced than he suggests. US citizens (PRs included) living in one of the 50 states can vote in presidential election - US citizens (including mainlanders) living in a territory cannot. It has always been this way. People in California couldn't vote before they became a state.
Puerto Rico isn't a state because it has consistently rejected the idea in referendums. The only possible exception was the most recent one in 2012, which I'm assuming he was referring to. 60+ % of people said they wanted to become a state if the current status were to change. Not exactly overwhelmingly conclusive (even though I would prefer that outcome).
Anyway, funny video. Just pointing out some things about PR because, as he mentioned, a lot of people don't have that much awareness.
