The reason for the "Latino" designation is because from the 1960's onwards received a huge influx of immigration from Central and South America. Which acts as a collective term to denote them by their cultural practices and mannerism. Seeing how some are quite inclusive and strongly attached to their Hispanic-derived cultures; it acts as a means to put them in their own category separate from other American-derived categories.

The reason behind this is because everything north of the Rio Grande river is Anglo/French derived territory, which isn't quite similar to the history of Central and South American history took through the test of time. Where there was more integration of both Native Indian and European influences. Also, there was a more early racial classification system with associated terms that is more culturally ingrained such as Mestizo, Harnizo, Castizo, and Criollo, etc. Whereas you were either "white" or "non-white" here.

The reason why we lump Latinos in the same boat is because it deviates from Anglo culture and Latinos here usually procreate with one another that can range from white hispanics with Mestizos or even Afro-Latinos since they share a common tongue so integration with one another is more apparent. So that is usually why that generalization is there. They are cultural bonded with one another, as some want to separate themselves from mainstream American culture and keep their "Latino" culture among themselves. So that is why there are different connotations with the word "Latino."

The 'Latino/a' you're talking about is strictly American (US). It's something that was created in the US and applies to people inside the US, not outside. You're Canadian, you aren't a 'Latina'.

LOL ??? You describe your ethnicity as "Arab".

Why do you think that as an Arab you have a right to classify who is White and who is not?

CrazyDaisy is still Whiter than you will ever be.
