Closer to Balkans: Epirus, Thrace, Macedonia, Thessaly, Western Greece
Closer to Italy: Attica, Peloponnese, Ionian islands, Cyclades, North Aegean, Dodecanese, Crete
Closer to Italy but distinct: Cypriots
Closer to Turkey and Caucasus: Pontians

Most of the Balkans is Medditarrean climate, Albania, Croatia, Montenegro etc. Has a med coast. What makes these any less Med in climate or geographically than Italy?
