Default Why was Albanian language grouped with Germanic and Balto-Slavic?

There was a time when Albanian was grouped once with Germanic and even Balto-Slavic. Why do you think this was so? What could possibly be the history behind such a possibility? I know that Thracian and Balto Slavic have also been connected, however with scarce evidence. The conclusion was that Albanian has changed a lot since proto Albanian and therefore is different.

Could proto Albanians have migrated from the North? Or was it maybe just influence from normans, goths etc

Other linguists have grouped Albanian together with Greek and Armenian.

Since Albanian is Indo European it obviously did migrate from north most likely. Proto shqiptars were from the steppes, from there on they moved into central Europe and Balkans

The J2 and E-v13 ydna were the original indo-european speakers, and they can't have come from the North. They were indigenous lineages.

Indo Europeans came from the north and they brought light features to the area and where they assimilated an already indigenous population.

Don't have time for long post, but Albanian and balto-Slavic appear to share some isoglosses. When looking at Proto-Albanian , it's kind of striking actually.

Linguistically they were assimilated by the J2s and the Ev13s but they contributed too to the language.

When the R1 tribes reached the Balkans in 5000 BC their non-european basque-like language merged with the indo-european language of J2s and Ev13s over a period of 3000 years. Greek was affected the most by this mixing, Hittite was probably less affected and Old Persian was not affected at all.
