Don't Estonians simply stick prepositions to ends of their nouns? That's why there are so many cases.

I ain't trolling, it's just what it looks like.

I have some pretty close ties to a certain estonian someone and want to start learning... I trust in my ability to teach myself with the right materials. But I'm afraid it's too rare a language... would learning Russian make it a lot easier to learn Estonian further down the road? How similar are they?
Come on, are you a troll ?

Only if the 'Teach Yourself Estonian' book is written in Russian.

Many languages use cases and Russian cases would not help with Estonian at all.

I sometimes use this dictionary to check meaning or find a word with a similar meaning etc. Though its only in Estonian : http://www.eki.ee/dict/qs/qs.html
Őigekeelsussőnaraamat ... the dictionary of the correct language.. or something like this.
