Well, first off Egyptians were semites.
The egyptians coming to canaan is how the bronze age came there and also how the first certain semitic influence came. It's also pretty certain that there was no semitic language developed yet until the bronze age came, period. but it came earlier in Sumeria and Egypt by far than it did in the levant.
Sumerians and assyrians started off speaking sumerian. The akkadian empire is when they came to speak semitic. It was they and the egyptians who spread it around. Probably what happened is that the arabs became semitized by the egyptians (arabic apparently is a lot younger) then they slowly gained more inroads on the sumerians through raiding and eventually took the whole area over and the semitized jews and phoenicians fled westwards into the levant.
