We have statues similar to that in my local area. There are some at the cemetery, in the local parks, and in the courtyard of the library. Many were sculpted by Derek Wernher.

    Sample of his work.

On a weird personal note one of my neighbors has a couple bronze statues of people lounging on several benches in his front yard. I expect that kind of thing in a park where it is a nice decoration, but staring out onto the street is reeeeaaaaaaalllllly creepy.
If it weren't for us you'd be speaking German. Instead, you'll be speaking Arabic.

In my parents' neighborhood, where I grew up, there is an eccentric wealthy businessman who has a miniature golf course, a golf cart race track and a small park with carnival rides and miniature castles in his backyard. He also collects statuary. He has a huge gorilla sculpture in his front yard. He hosts an annual fourth of July picnic with a huge fireworks show for the neighborhood every year. He is like 80 years old and has a 30 year old 2nd wife. His first wife contracted MS. He divorced her but relocated her to a very nice condo. He pays for her support. Anyway, Fred appears once at the picnic to say hello to everyone and then disappears. We call him the great Gatsby. lol

theres nothing wrong with this. its really nothing to do with being «backward» -- no such thing here. but its up to people to interpret. to me its just some harmless decors thats every where.

I support these statues. Better than 3 million ugly Lenins and Stalins. I think they are beautiful if tastefully placed within the community. Moreover, we should support traditional families. They are the fabric of a civilized, high functioning society.
