MGTOWs just a bunch of lonely incels trying to cope with the fact that they failed at life and are bitter at all women because of some bad personal experience with them. As a coping mechanism, they're trying to figure out why women don't like them and are coming up with pseudopscyhological reasons to try to rationalize their misogyny. Obviously women are going to be happier around handsome guys than around ugly guys. This doesn't mean they are going to treat them like kings. Some might, but I doubt most would. Also, guys tend to be more looks obsessed. Guys are more likely to watch porn and girls are more likely to read erotica. Girls are more likely to change their so-called "sexual orientation" than guys are (since girls loving someone is more personality based).

There is also a smaller female equivalent to them. They're called either radical feminists or WGTOWs. Radfems are more of a political movement where most of them are lesbians and this has been around since the mid-20th century. They also had women-only communities where men were banned called "Womyn's lands". They're more likely to go "all men are rapists!". WGTOW is more recent and many of them are asexual (a new identity being promoted) similar to MGTOWs. They basically always whine about negative experience with men and use fake psychology to try to psychoanalyze men. Many of them become like that because of receiving physical abuse from men and now generalize that fear onto all men as a result of their PTSD. Some also had bad relationships similar to MGTOWs. And they (like MGTOWs) are just emotionally scarred. They then feel that their experience is not unique and want to warn others so that they avoid this experience. But these kind of people have really toxic views. The stuff they are preaching is basically "don't reproduce and let the human species die". They think ALL women married with average/sub-average men are whores just using them for their money. They believe women are all sex machines only capable of lusting and not loving.
Nevertheless, their emotions and worries are completely real. PTSD is a real thing. The only thing that really bothers me is that they are trying to promote their ideology to other people who haven't been through the same emotional pain as them (especially younger more impressionable guys).

The key is take things such as relationships in strides and don't rush things. There is nothing wrong with setting standards for your preferences; it merely depends on how "flexible" the preferences are to make the relationship work. You just have to have faith in your abilities and not let the negative experiences hinder you from attaining a significant other. The opportunities are out there, you just have to experience it and see how well these experiences turn out. Even if the relationship doesn't work out, you have valuable experience(s) to improve yourself or sharpen your skills in a certain area to compensate.
Like the biblical saying, "Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm."
....
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
“The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.”
