UN: 100,000 refugees could flee Iraq

An estimated 100,000 Iraqis could flee to Syria to escape the military assault on Mosul, a UN refugee agency has said.

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees issued an emergency appeal for $61m to provide tents, winter items and stoves for those who will soon be displaced.

They said: "UNHCR is concerned that events in Mosul may cause up to 100,000 Iraqis to flee towards Syria and Turkey. Preparedness plans are underway in Syria to receive up to 90,000 Iraqi refugees."

More than three million people are already internally displaced in Iraq and aid agencies fear one million could flee Mosul.

    Enjoy the Mosul batch, Europe...

Next year, who knows...Ankara batch of cookies might be ready. Or maybe Riyadh batch. Or maybe they will only be made refugees at the very end.

All I know is, 100,000 refugees = mission accomplished.

I believe the creation of refugees is the PRIMARY GOAL and not just a by-product of these Western authored military campaigns/Economic sanctions, etc. The dismantling and sabotaging of secular Muslim states in favor of chaos or pseudo-theocracies is the secondary goal. Turkey and/or Saudi Arabia will be next in line (IMO) for some Western authored dismantling/chaos.

And what can possibly be gained from all this strategy?

Well that the goal is social engineering and not profit-oriented is proven by the fact that Iraqi oil concessions were awarded to Chinese and other non-NATO petroleum companies...These wars are waged at a huge LOSS to the West, yet they continue on.

The possible gain from this strategy is more land (and less people) for Israel to rule over. This strategy wouldnt have even been employed in the 21st century had it not been for Israeli military's abysmal performance in South Lebanon. Had Hezbollah not put up a huge resistance, Israel might have felt confident in making much of the "Middle East" into the West Bank and Gaza. However, the Lebanon experience taught them that occupation is not going to be the practical solution...So population displacement was seen more feasible. Who knows, if bio-weapons were more advanced, maybe the Jews would have had the heart to spare Europeans from these stinking refugees, but alas, it is also good to burden your rivals with a heavy weight, so that on the verge of sinking they might send MAYDAY signal to their 'savior'

This is also a continuation of the non-stop wars waged on tribal based societies that started 500 years ago, culminating with the decimation of the Native peoples of Americas and Australia. The wars waged on Indians was not called "War on Injuns"...each battle had a name, each 'political crisis' demanded a unique solution...but the OVERALL goal, the decimation of the Native peoples, happened and no one studyying the individual crises or battles back then would see it as a genocidal war. A campaign against the Sioux did not cause alarm to the Navajo because they had say, a 'treaty' or pact...When the Navajo are dealt with, the other tribes were also too short sighted to see the big picture and thus, got picked off slowly and systemically.
