I am from a rural area but here we speak mostly clear Bulgarian, with just minor Russian input.

There are parts of the country however where you can barely understand your own people, the dialects are very strong, with either Russian,Serb or Old Bulgarian admixtures.

I speak central-northern Sardinian, it belongs to its own branch separated from the other Romance languages, for this reason it's unintelligible for Italians, it's very different from Italian more or less like Italian and Spanish

Then you don't speak standard Portuguese.

    Some characteristics of standard Portuguese:

    • AI is ÁI, not Á (caixa, baixa, etc)
    • EI is ÂI, not Â, Ê, ÁI, ÊI or ÉI (cheira, deixa, leite, etc)
    • Initial unstressed E is I, not Ê or É (equação, energia, herói, etc)
    • Initial unstressed EM/EN is ẽ, not IN/IM or ÃI (emprego, enxada, entoação, etc)
    • Final S before a vowel is Z, not ZH (as aulas, mais um, etc)

Also, if you really want to speak perfect Portuguese:

    • AU is ÁU, not Ò (restaurante, vou ao mar, etc)
    • A O is  U, not Ò (deixa-o, etc)
    • Final S before ES is Z, not SH (as escadas, os estudos, etc)
    • S after SH is pronounced (nascer, as somas, as cinzas, etc)
    • Z after ZH is pronounced (as zonas, os zeros, etc) (if you learn this you'll have no problem saying 'casa suja chão sujo' )
