Being familiar with the traditional Bessie Smith version of St. Louis Blues that’s accompanied by Louis Armstrong, one that appears on Youtube, I wrote another anti-NATO lyric that can be sung to Bessie’s version. I call it “The NATO Blood Blues”. Gary North, take note.

The NATO Blood Blues
I hate to see that NATO flag fly high
I hate to see that NATO flag fly high
It makes me think I’m on my last goodbye
Feelin’ tomorrow that the bombs may fall
Feelin’ tomorrow that the bombs may fall
I wipe my tear, and make my final call
NATO ships and planes, load their nuclear bombs
Take us all away, to our lonely tombs
If it wasn’t for power, and their murd’rous glare
Oh, those machines of death wouldn’t go nowhere
I got those NATO blood blues, just as blue as I can be
Oh, that NATO’s got a heart like a rock cast in the sea
Or else it wouldn’t have it out for you and me
I love my life like a schoolboy loves his pie
Like a NATO-bred colonel loves to see us die
I’ll love my loved ones until the day I die, Lord, Lord
I got those NATO blood blues, just as blue as I can be
Oh, that NATO’s got a heart like a rock cast in the sea
Or else it wouldn’t have it out for you and me
I got those NATO blood blues
I got the blues, I got the blues, I got the blues
That NATO’s got a heart like a rock cast in the sea
Or else it wouldn’t have it out for you and me
