Default What is your favourite European city?

I would say Rome. The city still feels quintessentially Italian to me. 90% of Rome still remains Italian, whereas with London and Rome, barely 50% of the population is British and French respectively. London and Paris really do not feel like representatives of their country in the same way Rome does.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it's like Romans in particular, and Italians in general, as the most direct heirs of the most important in History European Empire, in despite of its long ago downfall and the centuries passed, are still the people of Europe which . Or maybe it's just a personal wishful thinking and their relative invulnerability from multiculturality and melting-pot rubbish it's simply consecuence of their current socioeconomical circunstances as the first Occidental European power in lose momentum after the Plan Marshall last big step forward.

I applaud any European city which firmly maintains its historical character, and refuses to be defiled by "diversity" and "multiculturalism".

I would mirror that impression. I've been to several European cities, and Rome seemed to be the least multicultural and most white, as a percentage, of the larger ones. I was pleasantly surprised. The Romans are also much less swarthy than the internet had me believe.

I love London. I think after "Roma Caput Mundi", London is the closest in modern times.

I don't know how accurate that is, but if it is, it proves Rome is certainly doing better than several European countries. Of course, that doesn't account for illegal immigrants, but then again, nor do the counts for Paris or London.

Southern European capitals used to be less swarthy than the regions around them. And foreigners (American or Northern Europe engineers,capitalistics,etc...) preglobalization contribution to that it's not much relevant on that fenomeno (or phenomenum if you and English prefer ): there're other socioeconomical factors more important.

I meant that in the net we can find very strange theories , especially about italian and spanish people.

Anyway i agree, probably Rome is less affected from immigrants, but ethnic romans are also real bad asses when it comes to defend their heritage and you easily find immigrants and their shops ghettoized in the outskirts.
Unfortunately even Rome to a certain degree is full of immigrants considering that the trend to immigrate there started later than Paris and London.

Italy did not have as many colonial possessions as England or France. Lucky them.

    My favourite city is London.

I enjoy the multicultural aspects which do work and reject the dirge.

I could not live anywhere else, but I like Edinburgh.
