Respectable Liberals..
Official thread to post respectable Liberals/Progressives.
AKA people who hold what most people consider 'Liberal' or 'Progressive' views but WERE NOT uppity assholes that didn't listen closely to Right-wing opinion, were open-minded, didn't want to ban free speech in the name of Progressivism, didn't talk down to right-wingers just because of their views, were willing to listen, were analytical, true intellectuals, and were not selfish and genuinely thought they were doing the right thing for humanity.
Might be hard to find them but anyways. It just seems most modern Libs/Progressives are total assholes that don't even listen to Right-wing opinion, are not open to dialogue, even want to ban free speech..and always talk very dirty with right-wingers just because of their views. Also it seems most Libs/Progressives today are practitioners of Identity Politics that is they only give a shit about themselves and their social group and are not Humanitarians, only in-name only. Also modern Libs tend to not be very analytical or intellectual at all, and mostly just 'go with the flow' (as, in 2016, Liberalism is basically the established culture, whereas in the past Liberals were the actual counterculture).
So, as someone who can respect people from both sides, as long as they are honestly trying to do the right thing, are willing to listen, and are not huge assholes to people that disagree with them, I hereby open a thread for such Lefties. I can't post any because I really can't think of any...but I am certain they exist.
Rules:
Post someone relatively famous or influential with Liberal views that isn't/wasn't a smug asshole that proposes or has proposed a sort of ban on free speech - and that was never known to talk down to people they disagreed with, but rather was always open to dialogue.
