Hi everyone
I am French, born in Paris, but my father is German (Berlin is his native town, but his family originated from Wroclaw, Silesia, when it still belonged to Germany. My surname ends with "itz", so I guess my dad’s ancestors had slavic roots. My grandmother on my mother side was a genuine Spanish Basque.
I’m feeling myself deeply European and citizen of the world. I have no idea about mitochondrial ADN haplogroup nor meta-ethnicity, and to be honest with you I don’t really care about. I’m much more interested in culture, traditions and linguistic ethnography. I’m keen on learning foreign languages.
I don’t support nationalism, I would rather live in a supranational federal Europe without real borders, the famous "United States of Europe" dreamt by visionaries like Immanuel Kant or Victor Hugo, with at least two official languages in each member State; esperanto and the native(s) language(s). And yes, there would always be a place for Turkey (as soon as they get rid of Erdoğan and achieve political stability, for now the door is still closed but not locked)...For the same reason, I’m not afraid of Russia. I’m a big fan of their music and literature.
...Well, this, at least, is my utopian dream. As a matter of fact, I don’t really believe in the future of our European Union ruled by elite technocratic liberalism, even though I think that Brexit is a huge mistake.
Anyway, I’m very happy to join your community.
