    (Sorry about the hair.)

EDIT: This picture may be better, but the hair sorta messes with it. Look for the corner of the glasses on my left side, as I'm wearing glasses in this shot.

    Attachment 62575

If you follow from the glasses, you can see my head is quite broad relative to its length. The arms of my glasses have often had to be stretched outward to fit around my ears and I've had trouble wearing hats because of this.
Going back to this. If you look at the front photograph, you can see the cheekbones kind of flare out making that level of my head noticeably wider than the rest of the head. I probably do have Nordid/Cro-Magnid in me, I don't want to discount anyone's opinions, but one of the reasons why I wanted to ask about this is that I noticed unusual features in me and my relatives, especially those on my mom's side of the family. It seems something else is admixed in. Would the admix be some sort of Baltid perhaps?

The relative with the most unusual features would be my maternal grandmother's either father or grandfather, as shown in this old black-and-white photograph:

    Would anyone agree?

I'm not much in the Taxonomy department around here but I'm going to have to go with Tronder AKA Anglo Saxon AKA Nordocormagnid, et al. Predominantly Nordid [of at least some variety] plus notable CM.

Your maternal relatives' photo is rather elusive, drawing a blank there. Do you know from which regions your forebears derive from?

No, which is what has made it difficult. We've often called him the "Stalin-looking guy", because after all at first glance he kinda does look like Stalin, and I think Stalin was Armenid. But I'm not so sure he's Armenid. If you look at the head hair, you can tell it's black and very thick as the hair seems to come straight out and only slowly curves down toward his head and his jaw is sort of square-ish.

I've often wondered if maybe he was Turanid.

Wherever he came from, he had an English surname, Simmons.

edit: And to add, I've tried researching the genealogy of that part of the family, but even though my grandma was born in Virginia in 1929, she does not appear in either the 1930 or 1940 census. There are marriage, divorce, and death certificates for her, however, and they do name her father, but there are so many people with his name it's been harder to track down.

I see, you seem to be from older Colonial stock which often makes tracing ancestors' origins an arduous task. Unfortunately, I can't be of much help in that area [mostly concentrated on socio-political affairs, psychology, history]. But this guy, Robocop, might be able to provide something of value in the taxonomy department.

Thanks. PM's don't seem activated yet for me, so I've tried adding him to my friend list. I'll see if he accepts.

I appreciate the help, and I hope you guys have found this interesting. If I have anything else to add (sometimes I will remember stuff later!), I will probably post it in this thread.

He might have PMs blocked or his inbox is full. You can go to one of his posts and send him a rep message. Click on the star on the bottom left of one of his posts to write him a message.
