We don't trust corporations. We trust the market. We already have anti-trust laws to prevent monopolies from being created, and perhaps those should be further strengthened to prevent a given corporation from obtaining too much power within an industry (I haven't formulated a strong opinion on this subject). But the free market is quite capable of reaching a balanced wage. As I said above, it does so for food, cars, services, and myriad other things. The government doesn't dictate that bread be sold for no more than $3 a loaf, and yet no one is complaining that bread is too expensive and ought to be subject to a regulated price. Why can't the same principle be applied to the buying and selling of labor? Now, if there are so many people that the wage is lower than we would like, well, then perhaps we ought to think about lowering our immigration rates, no?
