You basically put your cheek against someone else's cheek and make a kissing sound.

It is reserved for family members, close friends and unformal events. Otherwise you should simply shake hands.

Men do not usually kiss on the cheeks unless related or long-time friends. It is now becoming a new trend amongst sportsmen (like rugby players)
