Ręka can be for both - an arm, and a hand. Dłoń is exclusively a part from fingers to the wrist. So "dłoń" and "ręka" are correct.

Blame the Indoeuropeans. But yeah. If I created a language it would just have animate / inanimate noun classes.
It would have male and female pronouns though.
