I agree with the author, Borat is above all else a funny critique of the US and Americans that does have some real insights into our world view.

That being said, he sacrificed that country's dignity in order to do so. They are the martyr.

As critique it tries but fails. People mainly just play along with him for laughs and then he acts like OMG Hitler.

It is still amusing though.

Btw, I cannot remember whether I ever watched some ethnical Kazakh athletes from Kazakhstan, just the Slavic ones.

I don't understand how one can be too offended by Borat. If any, Borat was more funny in how he brought the true nature out of people at times.
If any, a Kazakh taking Borat serious and seeing it as a genuine insult is being comical himself, and unintentionally so. Nobody in his right mind would think Borat is a depiction based on real Kazakhstan. Everybody knows he picked Kazakhstan because that is one obscure country that nobody cares or knows about.

The film in my opinion is brilliant. My favourite scene being this, showing the idiocy that still reigns among rednecks.

On the DVD I have there are also extras. One such is a local news channel being played from their hotel room television covering his anthem stunt in front of angry rednecks. The news channel pulled everything out of context and showed his outrageous speech without the rednecks cheering and the insulting of the American national anthem. "Extremist calls for genocide of Iraqi people and insults America". Hilarious propaganda.

Kazakhs were played by Romanian gypsies and they made Kazakhistan like a mix of anti Semitic Russia with a Balkan vibe its highly offensive but does anyone wonder why it's a chosen who made this abomination?

I was gonna say that.
Only a Jew could pull something like this off. I was never allowed to watch movies like this growing up and was annoyed by everyone quoting it all the time.
