Not totally. It's a mix of Southern/Northern influences. For example, it has been way more linked to the UK than to Italy or Spain in terms of History or politics.

but the Uk itself is not a properly "north" country. Both UK and France are very diverse and mixed historically and neither are fully Northern or Southern European, thats why they fall within the category of Western Europe.
