Default Dropping Weight for a Fight

I am currently 67.2kg (148.8lb) and will be competitively competing in a wrestling competition in 4 days time. In that time I would ideally like to drop to 65kg (143lb) or ever-so-slightly under.

Is this an obtainable goal? If so, what ought I do to make this happen?

The weigh-in is the afternoon before the match, so I can have a proper meal straight after.

    Any ideas?

Sit in the sauna all day and peel your skin off with a credit card.

You can spend half day at the sauna catching the weight but you may feel a bit weak at the competition day. Good news is that you have 3 days to regain most of your strength after the weigh in (one has only one here).
    5 Stages of Grief:

Denial: The initial stage: "It can't be happening." Maniot is on top of me.
Anger: "Why ME? It's not fair?!" (either referring to God, oneself, or Maniot perceived, rightly or wrongly, as "responsible")
Bargaining: "Just let me stay to post another day Maniot, please."
Depression: "I'm so sad, why are you picking on me Maniot?"
Acceptance: "It's going to be OK." There is always Skadi.

Thank you for your replies so far.

I have been told that exercising while wearing a sweat suit might help. What I am worried about though, is losing too much fluid.

Has anyone had any sort of experience with this?

I have also heard that laxatives might help. Though I am unsure when I should take them in relation to the weigh-in.

I'm guessing the swim suit has the same purpose as sauna: short term weight loss by bleeding out your fluids.

    Hello,
'Temporarily' losing ~2 kg in water should be fairly comfortable. No need for crazy talk about sweatsuits or laxitives (yuck!). Having done a similar 'rush to meet a weight target for sporting competition' a few years ago I more than made it by just not eating/drinking the day before, and running 5km the morning, and 13 laps in the afternoon, wearing multiple layers/wooly hat on a *very* hot summers day. I didn't feel too bad suprisingly (a friend even called me for some 'extra' exercise which I hadn't planned and was a bit worried about, but that went fine too). Unfortunately I didn't measure how much I lost, but it was likely more than what you're trying for, I massively undershot the weight and was even able to eat some cerial beforehand, and my body looked really freaky in the mirror .
anything water loss related should do the trick, sauna, work up a sweat, whatever.
Another 'tip' is to stand on your head for a bit just before you weigh, i'm reliably informed you can 'lose' a few pounds briefly this way, although I've never tried it myself. If you have a scales at home, you could experiment with that, you might find you can "lose" half the weight just by that alone .

ps. will your 'event' be in derbyshire by any chance?

So you did not drink anything at all after running? I fear I might end up faint.

    you should be fine...
I didn't drink any water all day (it was a hot day) and was ok for all the mentioned 'sessions' (13 laps in june afternoon sun in multiple layers even felt quite good!); at 10pm I stood on some (untrustworthy) scales and was close to what I was trying for, so I phoned my coach and he gave me permission to eat 'a weetabix with a little milk'. Even with that I was actually nearly 1kg under (from being probably 3-4kg over) when I was weighed the next morning. Probably just even just one 'sweaty' circuit or run or w/e should be enough for you and I can't belive it'd make you faint to not drink after it (unless there's something wrong with you). Just a little willpower not to drink

you might even be able to sweat it all off in a sauna and save your energy - although I think excersing it off would be more comfortable.

A wive's tale? How would this actually work?

having had this converstaion before (and seen it tried to be explained as like a coin in a cup of water - it's 'weightless' while it's sinking - this failed answer caused more controversy though - physics isn't my strong point ) all I can say is it doesn't make sense but people have actually done this and it works, you can make 1 or 2 pounds 'disappear' temporarily by standing on your head. Really!
I'd try it myself to test right now but my scales at home are broken (no jokes please )

you mean like "Hulk Hogan" wrestling?
I just know some people who do wrestling, it's a small (almost nonexistant) sport in the UK and there aren't many competitions in a year, and one of the main ones happens to be near Derby this weekend.
Not that I'm going, you understand .

Actually, that wouldn't be too bad an idea either, Equinox... Try to keep it up a few days, and wear a wooly hat and sweatsuit.

I wouldn't combine the laxatives with this approach however.

I have competed for years, just tell you what you're doing it wrong, lose two or three kg in four days is a mistake, you will only lose water of your body, just the water you're going to need in the fight. This will make you slower and get tired before.
