Why do Poles want to be close to Czechs? Not only in term of genetics, but also in term of culture, mentality, etc.
Why we? Why not Slovaks, Ukrainians, Belorussians?
There is nothing special about us. Really.
Czech Rep. in my opininon is the most developed Slavic country, not because of my opinion but Gdp per capita shows that as well, I'm not sayin that's why Poles wants to be close to Czech lol... I am neutral there, just sayin.

The Czech Republic and Poland have a similar standard of living. Even in this we are alike.

Didn't said you're not similar, even that statistic of GDP per capita which I placed is showing that.

The informative value of these indexes is limited.

GDP is based on value of final goods and services produced in a particular year.

Some methods of calculating GDP are obsolete. Even if it is calculated in the correct way, GDP does not show level od development, let alone standard of living.

During communist period most of the countries of the Eastern Europe showed fake GDP in official statistics. Today, the level of GDP is also misleading measure of wealth. In the countries of former Eastern Bloc, it is connected with the level of foreign investments and foreign investors, who transferred their business from West to the East searching for low paid workers and lower costs of production.

Czekoslovakia had the best industrial development prior to WW2. The best standard of living during Communism was in Yugoslavia (Serbia was Yugoslav average), but GDP never show that fact. During the war 90th all former Yugoslav republics, except Slovenia, economically collapsed (especially Serbia and Bosnia), while other former communist countries experienced fast economic growth.

Today, Slovenia had the best standard of living, mostly thanks to their development during the Yugoslav period, especially the fact that Tito transferred many factories from the eastern to the western part of the Yugoslavia because he was afraid of Soviet attack after he broke up with Stalin. Exact statistical figures show Slovenian economic growth after 1948. Not to mention the fact that they benefited from the war situation 90th and international economic sanctions against Serbia.

In Slovakia people often joke about Poles and there exist quite a few negative stereotypes, and people don't seem them as close or a brother country (unlike ČR). Example in sports nobody cares if Poland is playing, it might as well be Nigeria or Kazakhstan playing..., but if Czechs are playing we support them because it's "our" team ( fandíme našim). (I support Poles but for different reasons)
