    Default Mushroompicking

When I planned to start the thread I was searching for English names of my favorite species of mushrooms.
I was suprized for lack of its names in English language!
English had to use the Latin scientific terms (like Boletus) for the mushrooms what grows in British forests!
For me, it is almost the same like to have not in my own language a name for dog
and call it just by the Latin scientific term - Canis.

Mushroompicking is the most frequent hobby in our country.
During the season you can met in Czech forest several individuals or family groups armored by knives and baskets.
Most favorite mushrooms of Czech mushroompickers are:

    Boletus (several sub-species)

    Leccinum ruffum
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leccinum_rufum
    Leccinum scabrum

    Macrolepiota procera (parasol mushroom)

    Suillus luteus

    Agaricus campestris (gilled mushroom)

    Some mushroompickers like also
    Lycoperdon perlatum (common puffbal)

    Calvatia gigantea (giant puffball)

I am not a mushroompicker, but I like to eat mushrooms. Our population density is too high and we lack too much nature for it. Picking mushrooms is bad for our environment. It's not a passtime many people can indulge in like Slavs can. Of course picking psychedelic shrooms is still a harmless pastime, for they grow in abundance anyway, but I neither do that.

Yep, when I was little with my grand parents when they were still alive. Today, I wouldn't be able to recognize the ones I can eat from those which would made me sick. It's been too long. Though, I keep eating mushrooms 2-3 times per week. Yum, yum.

Magic mushrooms don't actually grow on the shit. At least the most well known, the liberty cap, grows on fields and meadows. If you see a similar mushroom growing on animal dung, it is just an imposter.
