THE WAR OF 1812. EVERY GOD DAMN CANADIAN KNOWS ABOUT THIS WAR. CANADA WOULD NOT EXIST HAD THE AMERICAN INVASION BEEN SUCCESSFUL. ANYWAY CANADA IS THE SWITZERLAND/BELGIUM OF NORTH AMERICA, MULTI LINGUAL ETC. WHAT ABOUT THEIR IDENTITIES? THE ONLY THING I KNOW ABOUT SWITZERLAND IS TOBLERONE. AS FOR BELGIUM
WHO CARES ABOUT A COUPLE OF DEAD GUYS? YOU ALREADY STATED WHAT MAKES CANADA WORLD FAMOUS. LUMBERJACKS, HOCKEY, MAPLE SYRUP, MOOSE, MOUNTED POLICE, POLAR BEARS, SNOW, JUSTIN BIEBER, BACON. ALOT COOLER THAN THE WORLD KNOWING ABOUT THE US BECAUSE OF 2 YANKEE STIFFS.

1812...Interesting. We Europeans aren't taught about that war in school. It proves how ignorant we are about Canada. We are generally more informed about the U.S. and its history.
Anyway, I think that changing its old flag was the best thing Canada ever did to conceive an own identity. The Mapple Leaf design has proven to be one of the most popular and easily identifiable flags in the world, a better choice than the Red Ensign. I wonder why Australia and New Zealand didn't the same.
