Oh, I do since I'm descended from McDonalds (McDonnells) on different sides. I read that two were murdered at Glencoe, and I descend from Campbells on at least two sides, so I have a constant *Highlands* standoff (with special guest appearances from Grandpa Robert the Bruce and maybe even Braveheart, himself, if he's a member of *my* Wallace/Wallis clan.

I'm proud of being a Croat because I think a person without pride is a sad sight of root cut from the tree and devoid of personal dignity.

I however in no way believe my people are better or superior to any other. In my view, all people are equally worthy, just different.
In same manner, I won't allow anyone to think he or she is above me just on basis on their ethnic belonging.

Plenty of room for gratitude and appreciation though, indeed a duty for them. I don't understand why you have no pride in your Anglo-Celtic background, but each to their own.

As for CFG, I'm fairly sure that I'm less detached from my local, ethnic, and national communities than he is from his.
You can assume all you like but unlike you I've never shown any anxiety over the subject. You know you're neither English or Irish (certainly not Irish despite claims of 'Irish temperment') by your own standard and hence this emotional investment in a Anglo-Celtic ethnicity that isn't real except as a census option for Australians for bureaucratic purposes. You latch on to a fake ethnicity for comfort. You're not even really Australian, either: you don't have a 'spiritual connection' to the land itself. You feel out of place in your own environment, and I don't doubt you feel out of place among other Australians. You're Australian simply because you have to be something and you happen to be born in Australia. I would not be shocked if you'd place UK's interests ahead of that of Australia's.

Yes, Im proud of my nationality, dont get me wrong im not a extreme nacionalist or smth, but i do have a profound respect of the history of my land, respect for the bad and good things that happened and constructed the identity of this land, but also im very open to like other countries/identities and its one of my favorite "hobby" study abt multiple cultures of the world, always with a vision with curiosity and not a suprenacist one, i dont think there races/cultures better than others, they are just diferents and have their own particularities, abt my ethnicity, i dont think theres a "brazilian" ethnicity, we do all share some comum traits, cultures, traditions, ancestry, but i for example dont feel in the same group as a Catarinense or a Amazonian, and thats fine, Brazil and huge and its almost various contries inside a big one, but i am proud abt my portuguese, galician, yoruba, bantu, mande, tupi, conversos and many others groups that were part of the criation of my identity
More Details about my Bahian & Portuguese ancestry:
