Homophobia, Why Eastern Europe is so homophobic?

Im not homophobe but I would be uncomfortable to live in a city where gay culture flourishes. In some cities gay culture is quiete present and even heteros visit gay pubs or it appears like that in sitcoms (Mike and Molly visit gay nightclubs). A gay touches the ass of Mike, but he reacts laid back and cool. I wouldnt feel that comfortable around gays. Thats my view just like many whites dont feel comfortable around us non-whites.

Btw where Im at, in a small town in upper austria gay culture is virtuelly non-present. And Im content with that.

All sorts of more archaic views are always at a higher peak in Eastern Europe.

Doesn't matter if its homophobia,xenophobia,islamophobia,you see a big lot more of each here than in the mentally subdued West.

In my coutnry a lot of them are actually the social norm,and even the media stands behind them at some extent.People that practice them are made into everyday heroes.

One involves consent with another adult. This always comes down to people doing something one may not like but has nothing to do with them and doesn't involve one person forcing their will on another or in the case of bestiality an animal that is being abused.

I could never understand why anyone would care if their neighbor is giving another guy a blowjob in the privacy of their own home. It has nothing to do with me and no one is harmed. So I mind my own business.

I think, homophobia is a part of post-soviet heritage and this particular views were shaped through propoganda.
This is why eastern european countries are so frustrated around homosexuality in general.

But I am personally have a liberal view on this problem.
Each person should make his own choice in my opinion.

I have watched a tv program about homophobia in Russia. In Russia you can go to jail if you say in public that you are gay...or you can be beaten or even killed for some homophobic group without any legal problem for them.
I can't understand this kind of hate, it has no sense.

I have always thoght that this kind of homophobic people are in fact gays...and they can't accept themselves and project their frustation against "free gays".

Most likely you've seen a piece of propaganda. In Russia people don't care what you do in your bedroom but public display of your "unique" and "special" mentality is discouraged in most aggressive ways. Still nobody is going to kill a gay in Russia just for being gay. It's nonsense.
