Dutch-speaking Belgian have always been a majority in the country. They had until recently much higher birth rates than their French-speaking countrymen but many emigrated to Brussels and Wallonia and became frenchified. Therefore, the ratio has remained constant at about 56:44.

France? The government abolishing the sense of a distinct ethnicity sorta solidifies a nation's stance on what they want their nation to be. Some may argue the existence of a French ethnicity given France's history of being Europe's melting pot, though. I'm not an expert on France, but I have watched my share of foreign media from the historical big four nations of Europe.

It seems as though France always has more people without French surnames representing them. You see a lot of German, Spanish and Italian surnames. Of course, the media is not always representitive.
Send me dms asking me to classify you, i'll have Barbarianna of Barbaria here put a few holes in you. Then I'll take this guitar and smash it over your head.

LOL... That's like saying that Albanians are indistinguishable from Egyptians.

Keep dreaming in your fart cloud that Albanians are lighter and more Euro looking than Spaniards, lol

If with "different" you mean "different" in the same way that all Europeans nationalities have their own look, just like French, British, Italians, Germans are "different" in their own way, I agree with it.

But if you meant something else... yeah, sure ... As if I'm going to take that seriously ... But keep trying

We tend to adapt to the local language rather quickly. Having many of us move to an area we don't consider ours to begin with isn't that much of a treat to the linguistic development. In Voeren the linguistic balance shifted toward Dutch-speaking after many Dutch people moved there though, but that's because it has Dutch-speaking ties. If they moved to Charleroi, they'd just switch to French.

Hence those Walloons protesting for Comines to remain Walloon in the 1970s after Dutch-speakers were granted facilities (reluctantly by the administration and just one derelict elementary school) were wasting their time. That elementary school was geared toward readying kids to their Walloon future to begin with, unlike what Walloon nationalists assumed. Facilities in our interpretation means 'diminishing' and not 'preserving'.

It's like they say. Walloons and Flemish are like cat and dog. Our body language differs and we misunderstand each other, while no harm was intended to begin with. People grow smarter every generation, though. 'Idiot plebs' were more common a few decades ago than nowadays.
