but is there any "specific rule" that claims the hadiths to be genuine by default? i have only heard this about the quran. (not that i believe it but i am not a muslim)

Sahih Muslim and Sahih Bukhari are all authentic. Then there are other hadith collections such as Abu Dawwod, etc. The chains of narrations are graded, the chains are investigated for broken links, the reliability of the narrators are also investigated, etc. Hadiths go through extensive scrutiny and are graded with labels such as authentic, good, weak, or fabricated. I have said this before, hadiths are more reliable than the history books you read in school because of the process they go through.
