I based that idea off their known history (ie, known not to be a purely Levantine population).
Well it may come as a shock to Lebanese nationalists, but it's not a shock to me, they're a mixture of all the peoples that have been there, to greater or lesser degrees, and Lebanese/Syrian/Palestinian are modern designations, 100 years ago they'd have been part of the same population: 'Levantine Arabs.' Of course a more detailed look will reveal significant variations within populations (ie, some Palestinians being descended from Bedouins or Moroccans, some Lebanese being more Northern-shifted, etc).
