I based that idea off their known history (ie, known not to be a purely Levantine population).

Well it may come as a shock to Lebanese nationalists, but it's not a shock to me, they're a mixture of all the peoples that have been there, to greater or lesser degrees, and Lebanese/Syrian/Palestinian are modern designations, 100 years ago they'd have been part of the same population: 'Levantine Arabs.' Of course a more detailed look will reveal significant variations within populations (ie, some Palestinians being descended from Bedouins or Moroccans, some Lebanese being more Northern-shifted, etc).

Very well said. I know this is a bit off topic, but do I take genetic maps based of google maps seriously? It shows here that I cluster in Northern Saudi Arabia or something:

If those are the coordinates given in the paper, then, I guess. Some people have worked out how to 'plot' a person using coordinates based off GEDmatch runs. I imagine that's how PCAs work anyhow.

It's based on the calculator I used from GEDMATCH(Eurogenes K36). Here's the webpage that calculates the Latitude and Longitude which you can input the K36 Eurogenes results and use the results in Google map. Its interesting that I cluster in North-Eastern part of Saudi Arabia, rofl.

Thats just wrong dude, rofl. Anyway, I don't think these maps do anything good when it comes to true origins and etc. I mean, you cluster with other Jewish groups and other European groups, so it's not like it means that your a seaman from coastal libya or something, rofl.

Some kind of weird average. I'm 3/4 Ashkenazi 3/16 Sephardic 1/16 Iraqi/Indian Jewish, so, I guess, that's something like 1/16 Eastern Europe + 9/16 Levant + 5/16 South Europe + 1/16 other Middle East = just north of Libya?

I know, it's retarded, lol. Like I said, these maps are just for lolz and shouldn't be taken seriously. The most important thing is the autosomal DNA oracles along with Y-DNA and mtDNA haplogroups of the person.
