Why are Norwegians so cold?

People who dont value friendship. generally cold people that are in it for their own interest etc. I noticed Swedes are a little bit different based on the ones i met here. Any others here that have experience with other scandinavians?

Im talking about the males btw. The women are something different.

This is what my grandmother constantly says, but IDK how true it is, I guess i'm quite cold myself and when she gets mad at me she says that I'm cold and careless because I'm Norwegian.

I don't think the Norwegians are that cold. But they are utterly individualistic and self reliant, they simply don't need strangers.
The Danes are quite friendly but in a somewhat superficial way. Reminds me of the US of A.

The Swedes (and the Finns) are something special. Yes, they are known to be somewhat formal and shy. As a rule of thumb they only make friends in their teen age ; after that they no longer make friends, only connections. ^This is very true. Its a problem that People moving here and in particular foreign students have complained about this.

Maybe its the weather also Scandinavian culture doesn't promote confidence(Law of jante), and a lot are therefore shy and rather insecure. This in turn make a lot come across as cold. As for friendships you cannot expect besa from them The society is also highly influenced by individualism, matherialism and wealth, therefore resulting in a mass of shallow and cold people.

The only time most are approachable is in the weekends after sufficient intoxication. Then they open up like the most outgoing med. But on monday if you see them they will pretend to never have seen you

I would say it's because our countries are sparsely populated and people lived far away from each other historically. People looked after their families instead of interacting with strangers.
