Way too MED! btw Not sure why but it bothers me that no one is bothered by the fact this map practically stretches Europe to near Alaska. North Asia is just not Europe! And a couple of Russians, no some Asian tribes hearding raindeer living in yurts cannot possibly be more familiar than Turkey or Israel for example.

But in a strictly geographical sense I don't know why nobody cares that North Asia is being called Europe just because it's a part of Russia. Russia is geographically a mostly Asian country.

I'm not a fan of religion being mandatory as it is in most of the Middle East. Eastern Europeans on the other hand are a lot more secular culturally and ultimately the culture shock would be smaller. So Eastern Europe.

The most bearable Middle Eastern countries (going by the map here) would probably be Turkey, Lebanon and the UAE. However, Turkey is very nationalist and they're still MENA in many regards, but they have their secular regions. Still there's a MENA undercurrent even in secular Turkey. Lebanon houses many religion hotheats and has an uneasy situation in that regard (luckily peace at the moment). The UAE, very typical for a Gulf country, has a law based on Shari'a and doesn't want to step out of it. For instance, a female rape victim can't report her rapist to the police because she'd 'admit to fornication' and get jailed herself for it.

Even Russia would be less of a culture shock than every single Middle Eastern country.

According to this map, and according to many maps it is. Some Maps place it in Europe. It depends on the map and sometimes on the map maker's point of view.

That's exactly what I am saying. Since when did All of Russia become Europe, and get pulled out of Asia just because a small part of its overall land mass is in Europe?

OP gives us a map where Georgia is part of Middle East, so why not? Let it be Middle Eastern, that does not make Georgia less green or we do not start to dance belly dances eating lot of sweets, drinking tea and smoking shisha.

Georgia is Middle Eastern, cause it is south from Caucasus.
Kalmykia is East Europe, it is north from Caucsus and west from Ural, heart of East European steppe.
This is Kalmykia in case if anybody don'n know what is Kalmykia.
