ISIS is the useful idiot, they benefit everyone. Assad, Putin, Erdogan, the EU and the US all have a reason to keep them strong or at least in the news. How else can you justify a war in Syria if it isn't for ISIS?

This is true, without RuAF help they would be restricted to Latakia and Tartus by now (and maybe their holdouts in the far East).

Who cares? Their Syrian ancestors have erected this place. Their descendants can also put them back in ruins. Why you guys care about these ruins? Palmyra is just another tool to demonize the "Islamic" barbarism.

Air strikes never were able to defeat anyone stubborn enough, there is also shia "militia" from Lebanon and Iraq and presumably even regular iranian soldiers who pretty much carry all fighting i guess.

Assad did not take all of Aleppo and telling me I don't understand anything is rude and unfounded.

When I said you dont understand, this wasnt personally about you. The situation is really a mess and there are secret alliances who always change and everyone attacks everyone. This is what I meant. Assad took huge parts of the rebel east Aleppo, now almost finished. Just a rebel pocket and Pkk kurdish pocket left.

The biggest clowns are the Russians, who lead a battle for survival on a lost ground for an Arab leader.
