Hungary: Attack on Turkey = Attack on EU

The deadly terror attacks which killed 38 people in Istanbul on Saturday have not only targeted Turkey, but have also targeted the European Union as a whole, Hungarian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Tamas Menczer said on Sunday.

In a statement condemning the twin blasts, Menczer said that Hungary is against all sorts of terrorism and stands in solidarity with Turkey.

"The security of the European Union starts with stability in Turkey and therefore such attacks also target the EU" Menczer reportedly said.

He also highlighted that Turkey can trust Hungary's support regarding anti-terror fight and noted that countries must take joint steps to fight terrorism.

Istanbul was rocked by twin blasts late Saturday, which killed 38 people and injured 155 others near Maçka Park, 14 of whom are in critical condition. Officials have noted that initial findings suggest the brutal attack was carried out by the PKK terrorist organization.

The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by Turkey, EU and the U.S.

Turks and Hungarians are not a race apart.

So many western countries treat Islam like a race, which makes no sense. Proto-Magyars had a strong turkic background, but mixed with Uralics, "Turkics", and other nomadic tribes during their migration west. The real Magyar identity came from the ethnogenesis at Etelköz, where all became "Magyar". After the fall of the Khazar Empire, three other turkic tribes joined the seven-tribe Magyar confederation, known as the Kabars. This created the On-Ogurs, also known as the Ten Arrows. The Hungarians that arrived in the Carpathian basin weren't 100% turkic, just like the Turkish turks weren't 100% turkic. But we have the same proto-ethnogenesis. In ancient/traditional Magyar religion, lifestyle culture, food, drink, and folk stories, our turkic nature presents itself overwhelmingly over the Uralic lie. It is anti-Turk phobia (frequently motivated by hints of anti-Islam outside forces) that struggles to push Hungarians not to identify with turkic roots, and leans heavy on times of Ottoman Empire as a reminder.
