This is NORMANDY !
The Bayeux Tapestry, great masterpiece of history and art.
Well I just wrote a french article about it for a webzine... I wanted to share at least a little about it. It has been ordered by William's half-brother few years after the Conquest (1066).
This tells everything about the Conquest of England by William the Conqueror. That tapestry has always fascinated historians because this tells perfectly what happens correlated to other historical sources such as written from both sides.
We use to say this is the very beggining of historical comics or animation movie because of the way that historical event is demonstrated here.

Europa in Greek Mythology is the daughter of Agenor king of Tyr and Telephassa. She is the mother of King Minos of Crete.
Her name is made from εὐρύς (eurus), meaning "wide" and ὤψ/ὠπ-/ὀπτ meaning "eye, look". It was common in Indo-European religion to describe Earth as "Wide land" and Europa used to be the epithet of Earth itself for Proto-Indo-European religion.
The origin of his name could also be semitic and related to another meaning which would be "Loving, caring Mother".
Mother Earth, Mother Europa, she symbolize the old continent as an old figure of loving wise Mother, caring of Europeans.
This is her story : once Europa made a dream. When she woke up, she went to the beach and met Zeus himself transformed in a white Taurus in purpose she would not be scared of him. Europa came near him and straddled him. Carried away on the Crete Island and Zeus recover his God form. Then they breed together under a green plane tree. They had 3 children (Minos, Rhadamante and Sarpedon. Later Europa would be given by Zeus to Asterion, king of Crete.
